Who is The Walking Traveler?
Welcome to my world! Universal forces nudged you, grabbed your arm and said “I want to show you something,” sent you an ethereal message to find me or you simply clicked on a hashtag. Whatever the case may be, I’m happy you are here.
My name is Tony Toto.
I’m a Sudoku addict, music lover, air guitar master and roller coaster rider who feels perpetually stuck in his 20’s. This is good though as I stay young at heart while my consciousness expands and my wisdom grows from the many experiences I gain as I travel on my many journeys.
I love spending time on my feet. As a kid I was outside all the time playing street football, running bases, riding bikes and walking over to Six Flags amusement park with my childhood best friend. We were inseparable and our common interest was exploring the outdoors in every way imaginable…including, but not limited to, jumping our bikes off a ramp built too high resulting in a broken wrist on my part. With the curious mind of a child and the desire for exploration comes the potential of bodily harm and an occasional visit to the emergency room.
In my 30’s I took on walking as my main source of exercise. I lost a lot of weight and found the mental benefits in a simple one hour walk every day no matter the weather conditions. As a traveler, I may arrive by car, bus, train or airplane, but once my feet hit the ground I will happily walk and explore. With my love for people and places, I will walk into crowds, talk to people one-on-one, sit back and observe and write our stories. Can you figure out how I came up with the name The Walking Traveler?
I raise a glass of red wine in your honor and toast you, the reader:
“You came here for a reason. Curiosity…to learn something new…to get lost for a few moments in time or to take a break from your busy life. Some of you will stay for a season, to follow my journeys until you are ready to move on and start your own. Some will stay for a lifetime and follow me wherever I explore. Whoever you are and whatever your circumstance, I salute you, my readers.”
